What is Iridology?

Iridology is defined as “an alternative medicine technique whose proponents claim that patterns, colors, and other characteristics of the iris can be examined to determine information about a patient’s systematic health.” So basically what that is saying is that iridologists can look into their patients’ eyes and examine the iris, and based on patterns and colors in the iris, they can determine what parts of the body are inflamed, what parts of the body are functioning properly/not properly, and can also predict future health problems. Sounds kind of crazy, right?

The method of iridology is not used as a treatment, but a way to diagnose health conditions. With the results, most iridologists will recommend vitamins that will help get your health back in check.

If you could read the small text on the photo above, you would see that each part of the iris correlates to a specific part of the body. The ring right around the pupil corresponds with your stomach. An iridologist can tell where the root of health problems are by listening to symptoms and examining the iris. Differences in color and breaks in patterns are a good indication that something is wrong in that respected area.

The basic concept of iridology has been around for centuries. With as crazy as all this stuff sounds, it probably won’t come to a surprise that iridology is considered a pseudoscience. There hasn’t been enough testing to prove it is actually effective. But contrary to popular opinion, I believe in it.

My family has seen an iridologist for 11 years now. Her name is Jennifer Cheeseman and she is located in Fort Recovery, OH. She is a book of knowledge, I cannot say enough good things about her.

Before discovering Jennifer, my dad had an ongoing staph infection. Any time he would see a doctor, he would get prescribed antibiotics. It would go away for a little bit, but it always came back. He saw an infectious disease doctor and she told him he would have to live with that the rest of his life, it was just something he would have to deal with. Then, we discovered Jennifer. She was able to do an examination and found that the root of the infection was in his lower intestine. She was able to give him suggestions of vitamins to take for it that would target that area. He has not had a staff infection since, and it’s been over eight years. This is just one of the many personal success stories my family has from Jennifer, we hit the jackpot finding her.

Even if iridology isn’t proven to be effective yet, I hope it will be one day. Until then, I’ll continue to support the concept, because I’ve seen what it has done for my family.
